The partnership of our global Marketplace and our Uhuru street store is dependant on our capacity to move handcrafts and African fabrics around the world. The trade network from Dar es Salaam Tanzania to Melbourne Australia is expensive and we need your support to enable us to continue to move our products, trade in partnership and to share artisans treasures from East Africa.
For a limited time we are offering custom handcrafted Women's Pyjamas. Each set will feature a different African Wax Print, and is edged in handmade piping. Finished with four buttons down the front. The set is a boxy style shirt and paired with matching shorts.
These Pyjamas are so fancy you will want to wear them all day. Super comfy, limited edition and you can choose your own fabric and we will custom make them for you. Your support will directly fundraise for the transport costs for our stock.
If you have spent any time on the African Continent, it's likely you would have admired local Men and Women dressed in custom made, stunning outfits featuring Wax Print. Wax Print designs are incredibly distinct, featuring combinations of vibrant colours on top of a darker overdyed background.
Our collection of Wax Print is all hand sourced from the wholesale fabric markets in the heart of Dar es Salaam. Our fabric collection is directly traded from our partner store in Uhuru street, Dar es Salaam. By establishing a store in Dar es Salaam, we are not only an export company but we have created sustainable employment and training opportunities for a local team.
There will be a 2-3 week wait for custom orders. And please note we can take orders for either only a Pyjama top or just shorts.
Care instructions: as this is a cotton fabric we encourage you to wear it all the time but to give it minimal washing. Wash in cold on a gentle cycle on its own, and dry inside out away from direct sunlight. Warm iron. Fabric will soften with wash and wear. As our fabric has been traded across the globe and passed through many hands, it may contain small printing inconsistencies and small faults from production handling.
As we believe in ethical, slow and sustainable fashion we know that online shopping is not the easiest way to choose clothing. If you decide your clothing is not a good fit or the right style or fabric for you, we accept returns in as-new, unworn and unwashed condition. Please just contact us to arrange a return.
Thank you for choosing to shop small, and for investing in our fabric store in Tanzania and in slow and sustainable fashion created in our studio instore at 330 Melbourne Road, Newport, Melbourne.
