Everywhere you go in East Africa, you will see Kangas/Leso - a brightly coloured, rectangle of printed fabric with a Swahili saying. They are a vibrant part of daily life, used to carry babies, and layered as clothing. A Kanga carries great significance, as it marks the rhythm of Swahili life even from birth.
This Kanga has been produced in Tanzania from East African produced cotton, and was purchased directly in Tanzania during our recent travels. It has been directly traded in partnership with Women owned small businesses in Dar es Salaam. The blanket has been backed with a beautiful soft Italian made black wool felt. It features handmade woollen tassels, and has been top stitched.
