If you have spent any time on the African Continent, it's likely you would have admired local Men and Women dressed in custom made, stunning tie dyed outfits. East African produced tie dye is incredibly distinct, featuring combinations of vibrant colours carrying striking patterns. Every design is unique as they are hand folded and tied, and each colour is hand mixed and fabrics are dyed to create unique colour mixes. This rich deep blue tie dye has been produced in an incredible outdoor kitchen, heated and mixed in barrels over fires, and is made with beautifully fine cotton fabric and richly coloured dyes.
Our collection of hand tie dyed fabric was created in a limited batch for us in Iringa, central Tanzania. Our fabric collection is directly traded from our partner store in Uhuru street, Dar es Salaam. By establishing a store in Dar es Salaam, we are not only an export company but we have created sustainable employment and training opportunities for a local team.
Shirt measurements available, please contact us for details.
Please note this shirt is currently sold out instore, but we will make it to order for you. There will be a 2 week wait for custom orders. Due to the handmade nature of the fabric your shirt will look similar but not identical to the photo supplied. The fabric will be the same design and colour way.
Care instructions: as this is a cotton fabric we encourage you to wear it all the time but to give it minimal washing. Wash in cold on a gentle cycle on its own, and dry inside out away from direct sunlight. Warm iron. Fabric will soften with wash and wear. As our fabric has been traded across the globe and passed through many hands, it may contain small printing inconsistencies and small faults from production handling.
As we believe in ethical, slow and sustainable fashion we know that online shopping is not the easiest way to choose clothing. If you decide your Men's shirt is not a good fit or the right style or fabric for you, we accept returns for shirts in as-new, unworn and unwashed condition. Please just contact us to arrange a return.
Thank you for choosing to shop small, and for investing in our fabric store in Tanzania and in slow and sustainable fashion created in our studio instore at 330 Melbourne Road, Newport, Melbourne.
